Description
Grunt is the third book in The Story of Salvatore.
Six days.
No one thought I could last
Here in the cell—I now call home
They didn’t know I grew up in the prison of my crime family’s dream.
Six weeks.
No one thought I could withstand
The loss, the drugs, the torture
They didn’t know how much I would enjoy their game.
Six months.
No one thought I could survive
Their puppet and prey—but I like to play—hard.
And I don’t lose.
They picked the wrong guy. Their so-called ‘grunt’ would fight to get home and take revenge. I vowed to come back—for her—for Kaci. But everything changed.
My maniacal mind wrapped with a pretty mug, I am an unforgiving bastard, tough—tougher than they ever imagined.
And I will never – ever – break.

Third book of the Story Of Salvatore, Grunt marks the turning point in Sal’s life. Of course the first two books did, as well but in this one, as Sal is pushed beyond his limits and goes through his training as a Sibyl recruit, the traits we could sense in the Initiation and Tea For Two are now revealed and enhanced.
His intelligence, his capacity to use his charms and easy-going persona truly shone. As his body transforms, so does his charisma and self-confidence. The journey wasn’t an easy one and the doubts and breakdowns, his suffering were palpable.
“Heartbroken and alone, Sal knew he had been an easy target”
With all the changes, went on a huge introspection, and I loved the maturity he showed, especially about his relationships with the other characters. His determination to survive and excel made of him an man outstanding young man.
“Finally, he knew who he was”
Darkness and coldness predominate in this book but they were brilliantly counterbalanced with sweet and/or scorching hot scenes.
If Kailee Reese Samuels once more captivated me by beautifully handling Sal’s physical and psychological transformation during his training months, she blew my mind thanks to a huge mindfuck, the twists and the revelations she subtly slid here and there.
“But with each answer, a new question loomed.”
That author is seriously becoming one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to dive into Hopechest as I guess there are so many more unexpected turn of events to come!!!
