Originally, I posted this on FB October 13. I think it’s worth saving.
One more author signing in 2018.
I’ll get a new hoodie and table runner for 2019.
I’m feeling a bit reflective, so forgive my rambling.
I’ve met so many amazing people—people I’ve come to LOVE and CARE about through our shared need of a story. And I won’t name all the names, but you know who you are. And I know who you are too.
Readers need books.
But after all the hoopla, swag, dick soap, and hugs, the truth is authors need words.
And that makes us—writers.
It’s a drug.
And when it’s flowing, there is no greater high.
It’s a rare occasion for me to go to after parties or dinner, and usually when I do, it’s spurred on by the lovely E.
And the reason I don’t is simple, I’ve got a problem. An addiction with the words and I’m chasing them. 🦋 And others do too. 😉
Sometimes shy, reclusive, and seen as stand-offish (dare I say snob), but the truth is some of us aren’t the worlds best at verbal communication. Let me write you a note, a love letter, a 700 page tomb, but mingling—now, that’s some scary shit!
I’m a writer… and it’s what I do.
On my phone, on my Mac, on tiny scraps of torn paper, scrolled on my arms like some sort of crazy hieroglyphics only my madness can understand. There is no organization here. My mind is caught between a crime scene and a wooden rack and it’s twisted, flawed, and fucked up.
So when asked what I’m doing…
I’m putting it down. 💋
In a hotel room, in the truck, in the blistering hot sun, in the bathtub, in bed, during dinner, in the middle of the night…
If I stopped publishing tomorrow, I’d still be a writer. It is who I am. I will be with the words until I am no more. But I choose to hit that publish button and share for one reason—to give readers an escape.
I was recently told by a reader that she was slowly reading my book to savor every word. It was a tremendous compliment.
If you’ve met me, bought a book from me, wanted to throw your phone/reader at me from thousands of miles away, or screamed at my scribbles, I thank you greatly for allowing me to share my roller coaster of chaos. ♥️
You are LOVED.
My writer needs you.
I need you.
Stay fierce.
Stay true. 🙏🏻👆🏻😇😈😘
And the absolute coolest part about being an indie is ultimately the community of strangers which somehow interweave into my fabric. And I love every single one of your stories. And yeah, I do remember. 😉 I got a thing for details. ♥️💋
